When the Buitelaar family acquired Prumpelstown Estate in 2019, they embarked on a mission to transform it into a model of regenerative agriculture. Today, Prumpelstown Estate stands as a testament to the power of working in harmony with nature. Here’s a look at the journey we’ve taken from conventional farming to becoming a leading regenerative farm.

The Early Days of Prumpelstown Estate

Prumpelstown Estate has a rich history that dates back centuries. Once home to the Wright family, the estate was farmed conventionally for generations. When the Buitelaar family took over in 2019, they saw the opportunity to create positive environmental change by transitioning to regenerative farming methods.

Embracing Regenerative Practices

The shift from conventional to regenerative farming required a complete rethinking of how we managed the land. We implemented practices like mob grazing, which mimics the natural movements of wild herds, and multi-species sward planting to increase biodiversity. Over time, these techniques have not only restored the soil but have also improved the health of our cattle and the land.

A Commitment to a Sustainable Future

Prumpelstown’s transition to regenerative agriculture is more than just a change in farming techniques; it’s a commitment to ensuring that our estate remains healthy and productive for future generations. We are proud to play a role in sequestering carbon, restoring biodiversity, and improving water retention—all while producing high-quality beef.   Our journey toward regenerative agriculture has been both challenging and rewarding. By working with nature instead of against it, we’re helping to heal the land and create a sustainable future for farming. Join us as we continue this journey and explore how regenerative agriculture can transform the world.
